Growing up Melissa always had an interest in the natural world, how the body works, exercise, and teaching. Fun fact: Melissa’s very first Pilates experience was via her mom’s Winsor Pilates VHS tape. After receiving a degree in Biology from UW in Seattle, (and attending her first Pilates mat classes while in college) Melissa spent years in various occupational fields including working with animals, researching, and massage therapy. Melissa gained knowledge of human anatomy, therapeutic techniques, and the importance of giving people the tools for movement and self care. While working as an LMP, Melissa took up Pilates again for her own self care at a Fletcher Pilates studio and was immediately hooked. She enrolled in the Fletcher Program of Study, began teaching clients in 2017, and never looked back. After a six month teaching stint in Tucson, AZ (the home of Fletcher Pilates,) Melissa moved back to Seattle and opened her studio in 2019. She mentored students virtually through the Fletcher Program, and is excited to deepen and expand her teaching by now offering teacher training in her own studio!
